Our story

No 46 was established in 2O19 by myself, Mackenzie. It started with my mum Belinda, in 1988 she opened this shop in the same place called Of Special Interest. Not long after, she expanded into the shop next door and a show room around the back with two floors.
Belinda sold everything from pots, lighting, crockery and other homewares to antique furniture and bespoke dining tables. I started working here every Saturday from the age of 1O and knew I shared the same passion as my mum. However, it was a large shop for my parents to upkeep even though it was very successful. After 3O years, my dad Lewis, and Belinda decided to close down the shop and hand over the corner shop to me. This is where no 46 started and it's been an exciting journey.

Ever since Of Special Interest, we've always relied heavily on suppliers to keep us stocked up. When I opened no 46, I did as well.
Then 2O2O happened and we were closed for many months. Thats when Belinda put her mind to making scented candles. It was a lot of trial and error but lockdown really gave her the incentive to keep going.

Once we reopened, we stocked the shelves with the new handmade candles. They started flying and we received a lot of positive feedback. Since then, our collection has been growing from scented soy candles to reed diffusers to essential oil room and pillow sprays. We also have a large selection of body products such as natural soap bars, sugar scrubs, wash, lotion and more! Please see our products page for more. We're always thinking of new ideas of what we can make ourselves. My parents are incredibly talented. Belinda recycles old pots or vases and turns them into works of art. Lewis can make bespoke trays from recycled pallets.

I use the shop as my art studio whenever I can find the time. Art is my number one passion and being able to own a shop where I can paint as much as I want is amazing! I sell all watercolours and oil paintings mainly. If you'd like to see more then head to my artwork page.
